The High Performance Golf program is aimed at increasing the depth and competitiveness of female golfers representing Victoria.

The program offers a sound high performance pathway to allow athletes to monitor progress and aim for selection into the Victorian Institute of Sport, Golf Australia National Squad and Australian Institute of Sport.

Victorian Institute of Sport

The VIS Golf Program is based at Melbourne Golf Academy in Melbourne and provides annual full and part scholarships for male and female amateur and professional golfers.

Coach:

• Head Coach - Marty Joyce
• Assistant Coach - Darren Cole

The coaching program is tailored to the individual needs of the scholarship holders. It is designed to offer support to elite golfers who have the potential to achieve at an international level.

The participants have group and individual coaching, gymnasium work, special competitions and access to sports medicine, sports sciences and personal career development programs. The ACE programs and support networks allow athletes to balance golf with their life, work or study commitments.  

Athlete Selection Criteria:

Athletes are selected for VIS Golf Scholarships according to the following broad criteria:

• Perceived potential to succeed at the International level
• Current performance level
• Participation in state programs and selection in representative teams
• Performance at interview as part of scholarship selection process
  
  * All athletes must be Australian citizens and Victorian residents.
  
  Scholarship period 1 Oct - 30 Sept annually.

  Applications for the 2010-11 Scholarship Period close 5pm Wednesday 18th August 2010

Please note: The application form has a "Submit by Email" option. Please complete the form, save to your computer, and forward to the VIS via email. Please make sure you follow all the information on the form and contact the VIS to ensure that your application is received.

Applicants will be short listed and interviewed by representatives of the VIS and State Sporting Organisations. Successful applicants will be notified by mail. VIS Head Coach Marty Joyce will be organising the interview process within the 2 weeks after the closing date.

Athlete Scholarship Period Golf scholarships run for one year and are renewable.
